Projects
This page displays brief project information (incomplete so far, I'll add more as I work through the backlog). Quite a variety, eh?
The projects are in reverse chronological order within their group, with newer projects are at the top.
Lessons: I was most impressed by WordPress capability to deal with custom content types, yet still I felt that for any site that needs to use a lot of these it would be better to use a more modular CMS (Drupal comes to mind), or be written using a lower-level framework. Still, quite happy that WordPress provided all these tools and they do work.
Lessons: It is a (rare) pleasure to work with an organisation that truly takes ownership of its new site and — gasp! — knows what to do with it. Note to self: Look more for such clients in the future.
Lessons: A good idea to create custom illustrations, the result is fresh and nice. Organizing a team of authors for the site is an ongoing effort.
Lessons: WordPress is easy and powerful, good recommendation.
Lessons: First experience with an image slider, quite nice results if done right.
Lessons: Drupal is very flexible and powerful (at the cost of some complexity, but worth it when needed). With several editors involved ease of use is vital. Followup and maintenance are a big part of a «website project», don't underestimate it.
Lessons: Joomla is nice, though a bit rigid in some areas. Always try to simplify the task, don't just implement all requests. Test with real people to find usability problems.
